How to Help Migrants + Asylum Seekers in Chicago
Majority of the Todo Para Todos residents have been moved into permanent housing as of September 7. Here's what we need help with in the immediate next phase of our work:
Help us furnish TPT alumni apartments! We need help locating and delivering second-hand mattresses, sofas, and everything else that one needs for a starter home. Email us to join the furniture crew!
Know of resources where the TPT alumni can get access to free food, clothes, and life hacks on making a life here in Chicago! Let us know!
Donate! TPT alumni need help with first months' rents, security deposits, filling their pantries and creating stability. Contribute here.
Other Ways to Help
Migrants and asylum seekers are still being bussed from border states with as many as 4 busses arriving per day. They are being dropped off at police stations throughout the city with no access to shelter, food, water or any other services while they await being placed in a city shelter. Volunteers and neighbors have been coming together to fill this need, organizing 3 meals daily, dropping off ice and water, and making sure migrants have shoes, clothes, and bedding. Here's how to help these efforts:
Join the District 12 Migrant Support Network (website)!
We need gently-worn clothes and shoes! And winter coats and gear as the season changes. Please drop off at Pilsen Food Pantry (website)
